Physiological and biochemical characteristics of 7 warm-season turfgrass varieties, including Eremochloa ophiuroides(Munro.)Hacd.,Paspalum vaginatum Swartz seashore paspalum,Zoysia matrella(L.)Merr.,Cynodon dactylon(Linn.)Pers,Cynodon dactylon‘Tiffgreen 419’,Zoysia japonica‘Lanyin NO.3’,and Zoysia sinica Hance, under low temperature stress of 25(CK),15,10 and 5℃were studied to screen warm-season turf grass which is suitable for the southern transition zone. The results showed that the lawn traits, physiological and biochemical indicators of all turfgrass cultivars were changed under different degrees of low temperature stress. The soluble sugar content,MDA content, and proline content in the leaves and leaf electric conductivity increased with temperature reduction. While chlorophyll contents were reduced.Zoysia matrella(L.)Merr.and Paspalum vaginatum Swartz seashore paspalum were withered in 3 days and 5 days under low temperature stress of 5℃.According to the comprehensive balance analysis results of various indicators, the low temperature resistance of 7 warm-season turfgrasses is Cynodon dactylon(Linn.)Pers>Cynodon dactylon‘Tiffgreen 419’>Eremochloa ophiuroides(Munro.)Hacd.>Zoysia japonica‘Lanyin NO.3’>Zoysia sinica Hance>Zoysia matrella(L.)Merr.>Paspalum vaginatum Swartz seashore paspalum.
