This article draws on Mona Baker’s narrative theory and the notion of framing to explore the narrative strategies W.F.O’Connor utilized in translating Folk Tales from Tibet from Tibetan into English. It concludes that by intentionally manipulating the narrative framing methods in translation,W.F.O’Connor has achieved his purpose of vilifying Chinese central government and Tibet local government, and therefore constructed a fabricated legitimacy for the British invasion into Tibet in 1904.
