Craft,Industry and Everyday Life:Leather and Leather Working in Anglo-Scandinavia and Medieval York is an archaeological report on leather products in Anglo-Scandinavia and Yorkshire in the Middle Ages,in which a great deal of information about leather shoemaking has been recorded.This paper extracts,annotates and compiles the contents of textile and clothing related to shoes from this book,discusses the style,structure and technology of shoes in detail and analyses the styles of shoes in Anglo-Scandinavia and the Middle Ages.This will be of great value to the study of modern shoes as well as the research of ancient European costume culture and style.This article aims to explore the similarities and differences between ancient and modern shoemaking technology while showing the ancient handmade leather shoemaking technology in Europe so as to provide a reference for further research on leather shoemaking technology and European clothing culture.
