福克纳与莫言的创作都扎根于故乡,却又拓展并超越了故乡。二人的对比研究,包括"文学王国"的对比,都已取得了可观的成就;但较少有研究者注意到福克纳与莫言对故乡的"回归"与"拓展"之变迁。文章追踪二者从"离乡""返乡"到"超越故乡"的过程,对比整合两位作家的创作与故乡之间关系的变化,旨在理清故乡在文学创作中的功用与局限,表明严肃文学对人性的关怀是作家超越故乡的许可证。

The works of Faulkner and Mo Yan are rooted in their hometowns but extend and surpass the hometowns. Comparative studies between the two writers,including the contrastive analysis of their"literary kingdoms",have already made a remarkable achievement. Nonetheless few researchers have noticed the transition of the relationship between the literary creation and the hometowns of the two writers. By tracing the process during which the two writers"leave,return,and transcend"their hometowns,and by contrasting and integrating the changing relations between their literary production and the influence of their hometowns,the research aims to clarify the functions and limitations of hometown writing,and to show that the permit for"transcending"hometown in literary creation is the writer’s innate and ultimate concern for human nature and human life.
