Summit Diplomacy Studies in China-India Relations since the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations

首脑外交是由国家实际掌握最高决策权的领导人直接出面处理国家关系和国际事务的外交。中印建交七十年来的首脑外交可以大致分为四个阶段,其发展历程、内涵、侧重、形式等方面都有鲜明特点。中印首脑外交在一些关键节点上发挥了为两国关系把舵定向的作用,但其开展历程和成效也受到一些主客观因素的制约。尽管如此,在较近的将来,中印首脑外交仍会继续发挥至关重要的积极作用,并会更加趋于机制化、所涉及的议题也会进一步多元化。

Summit diplomacy is the diplomacy of the leaders for the country who have the highest decision-making power to deal directly with state relations and international affairs.The diplomatic relations between China and India in the past 70 years can be roughly divided into four stages.Their development history,connotation,emphasis,form and other aspects have distinct characteristics.The Sino-Indian summit diplomacy played a role in aligning the relations between the two countries at some key points,but its development process and effectiveness were also constrained by some subjective and objective factors.Nevertheless,China-India summit diplomacy will continue to play a vital and positive role in the near future.And it also will become more institutionalized and the issues involved will be further diversified.
