Since China’s reform and opening-up,the history of Sino-foreign relations has emerged as an indispensable and important subject in the study of Chinese history, and has produced fruitful research results. At present,China’s remarkable achievements in the reform and opening-up have attracted worldwide attention, and China has increasingly moved to the center of the world stage.Interdisciplinary discussions and cross-comprehensive researches reflect the attributive significance of this discipline.Establishing"Three Major Systems of Chinese History Studies"in a Chinabased yet world-oriented manner is the historical mission entrusted to us by the new era,and it requires our common efforts to review and prospect, and inherit and innovate the research on the history of China-foreign relations. Therefore, the Chinese Society for Historians of China’s Foreign Relations and the editorial office of the Journal on Chinese Culture jointly organized written discussions on the Discipline System Construction of the History of Sino-foreign Relations.Scholars had in-depth discussions on the shortcomings in the research on the history of China-foreign relations, and the disciplinary orientation, theoretical construction, research methodology, and other fields. We expect that such discussions could be helpful to construct the disciplinary system of the history of Sino-foreign relations, promote the deep integration of Chinese and world history studies, and work together to establish the"Three Major Systems of Chinese History Studies"with Chinese characteristics,Chinese style and Chinese manner.
