In the Warring States period(B.C.475-B.C.221),it is common to add phonetic signs to a original character to form a new character which can be called phonetic-adding phonogram. On the basis of the unearthed literature, the phonetic signs of phonograms are higly related to the original characters in terms of their pronunciations and have obvious regularity. As the pronunciations of the original characters change, the phonetic signs were added to the original characters to mark their pronunciation, which generated great numbers of phonetic-adding phonograms in the Warring States period.
