OBJECTIVE To understand the status quo of the construction of pediatric medical associations in China and to find out the problems.METHODS The Chinese and English databases, networks, national and provincial(district, municipal)governments and the Health and Welfare Commission Website are used to collect the relevant literature, policy documents, news reports and other materials from the earliest provincial and municipal levels of pediatric medical associations.RESULTS 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities)established at least one provincial-level pediatric medical association in addition to Tibet. The pediatric medical association or specialist alliance is the main form.In terms of member units, maternal and child health institutions and primary health care institutions are not sufficiently involved. In terms of service content development, mutual recognition of health check results, scientific research cooperation, and sharing of expert sources still need to be strengthened.CONCLUSION The construction of pediatric medical associations in China is rapid, but there are also problems such as insufficient participation of various types of medical service institutions at all levels and incomplete service development. It needs to be improved by increasing investment in grassroots institutions and maternal and child health care institutions.
