This paper focuses on the concept of context and explores the development of related theories.By analysing three important works of Robert Venturi,e.g.Context in Architectural Composition,Complexity and Contradiction in Architecture and Learning from Las Vegas,the article explores how Venturi’s theory of"context"has been presented,extended and furthered.This also reflects his continuity of the cultural tradition of western humanism.,with ongoing inspiration from Venturi’s architectural theories today.
