On the Complementary Historical Value of Stone Carvings on the Cliffs of Jiuquxi:Supplementary Information on Official Tours

武夷山九曲溪沿岸现存摩崖石刻200来方,记载了宋代至民国各种身份人物的游玩、交友和政务活动,保存了不少重要的史实,这些史实具有原始性和准确性的特点。而传统史书因各种局限,对史实的记载并不详细、完整,使得"石刻补史"的作用格外重要。武夷山九曲溪摩崖石刻中的不少史料可以弥补当时一些福建官员的游览情况。

About 200 square meters of cliff stone carvings can be found in Wuyi Mountain which record the sightseeing,making friends and government activities of all kinds of characters from Song Dynasty to the Republic of China,and many important historical facts are preserved,which have the characteristics of originality and accuracy.Because of all kinds of limitations,the records of historical facts are not detailed and complete,which makes the role of stone carving complement history particularly important.Many historical materials in the stone carvings of Jiuquxi in Wuyi Mountain can make up for the information of tour of some Fujian officials at that time.
