高行政层级城市能否延长企业存续期?

Can High Administrative Level Cities Extend Enterprise Survival Time?

从城市行政层级视角出发,基于2000—2013年中国工业企业微观数据与279个城市数据的匹配数据,运用Cox风险模型分析集聚效应、市场规模效应和排序效应三种机制对本地企业存续风险的影响。研究结果表明:总体而言,高行政层级城市的企业存续风险较低,高行政层级城市的集聚效应和市场规模效应显著降低了企业存续风险,城市行政层级的排序效应对资本和技术密集型行业作用较为显著。进一步研究发现,相对于国有企业,民营企业在高行政层级城市的存续风险更低,存续期更长,且高行政层级城市并不排斥小型企业发展。上述研究为客观评估城市行政层级对企业存续的影响提供了微观层面的经验证据。

Based on the match data of China Industrial Enterprise Database and 279 cities in 2000-2013,from the perspective of city administrative level,this paper uses the Cox risk model to analyze how aggregation effect,market size effect and sorting effect to have impact on the risk of local business survival.The results show that,in general,enterprises in high administrative level cities have lower risk of surviving.The agglomeration effect and the market scale effect of high administrative level cities significantly have reduced the risk of corporate survival.The sorting effect of urban administrative hierarchy is more obvious in capital and technology-intensive industries.The progress analysis shows that private enterprises have lower survival risks and longer duration in the high administrative level cities when compared with state-owned enterprises.High administrative level cities are not biased towards small-sized firms.The above findings provide empirical evidence at the micro level for objectively assessing the impact of city administrative levels on the survival of firms.
