Pattern and Semantic Prosody Analysis of"trade"in Chinese and American English Newspapers

该文借助Hunston和Francis的词汇型式理论及Stubbs的语义韵三分法,对中美英文报刊中出现的商贸热词“trade”的词汇型式和语义韵进行了对比分析。研究发现,“trade/trading+N”名词词汇型式是该中美英文报刊小型数据库的一大语言特点,进一步通过对名词词汇型式及索引行的分析,发现“trade”传递出不安的语义韵,体现出近期贸易活动的特征。

This paper intends to make a contrastive analysis of"trade"in Chinese and American English newspapers from perspective of pattern and semantic prosody.It has been found that"trade/trading+N"is one of the major linguistic features in the selected Chinese and American English news.In addition,through the analysis of NN pattern and concordance lines,this paper shows that"trade"conveys the semantic prosody of uncertainty,unveiling specific feature of recent trade activities.
