摘要
激发学生的学习动机是英语教学的重要任务。研究者以苏格拉底式对话作为课堂英语口语教学活动形式,开展了一个学期的思辨式英语口语教学实验,探索了这种活动形式在激发学生英语学习动机方面的作用。实证分析结果表明,苏格拉底式课堂对话通过满足学生在乐趣、自尊、自主、归属感和胜任感等五个方面的心理需求改善了学生的英语学习态度、学习兴趣和动机强度。研究同时发现,学生的学习动机水平能够预测他们对思辨教学活动的态度。
An important thing to do is to motivate and maintain students'intrinsic motivation for classroom activities for college English teachers.In this study,teachers carried out Socratic questioning to improve students'critical thinking ability.The results show that students'intrinsic motivation increased when well designed Socratic questioning allowed them:①to control their own decisions;②to do things that help them feel successful;③to feel part of something larger than himself or herself;④to feel good about themselves;and⑤to find pleasure in what they do.The researchers also found that students with stronger intrinsic motivations were also more positive about critical thinking activities in the classroom.
