The educational and scientific characteristics of mathematician Irving Kaplansky

The famous American mathematician Irving Kaplansky has not only made outstanding achievements in mathematics,but also cultivated many outstanding students.His teaching and research methods are worthy of our study and reference.Based on the analysis of related literature,all these are discussed.The results show that he has an open mind,adheres to the inquiry teaching method,encourages students to read widely and read more masterpieces.He also suggests that researchers should make pioneering mathematical problems with leading quality as guarantee,and at the same time has critical thinking and persistent scientific spirit.These are all of great guiding significance for our study,teaching and scientific research.
