Since September 11, 2001, many novelists’ exploration of the reality of the terrorist attack and its representation in various American "9/11" novels are increasingly related to gender writing. Due to the lack of study on female writing features of American "9/11" novels, this article focuses on female memory writing, which is mainly on how and why the female individuals indulge in unforgettable narratives represented in Don DeLillo’s Falling Man, Colum McCann’s Let the Great World Spin, Amy Waldman’s The Submission, and other American "9/11" novels. Through comparison and contrast of these female memory writings, this article aims to examine the agency and pro-activity with the direction to the future in the unforgettable narrative in these texts and thus explore American "9/11" novels’ reflective and reshaping practice in the competitive discourse of gendered power.
