The paper describes how to determine the free-die forging parameters for marine steel plates and points out that the dimensions of blanks are the key to determine the forging parameters and forging direction and position have great effect on forming quality.The paper proposes an improved forging technique for marine steel plates that can reduce the material consumption and improve productivity and product quality.
