Research on Shangmei Design Studio’s Operation

陈之佛在逆境之中创办尚美图案馆,虽然仅仅维持两年多时间,但是它在本土图案实务、研究、培训的基础上,积极探索中国现代设计学科的可能面貌,以一种东方诗意的尚美品质沉淀其中,它不仅奠定了陈之佛图案事业的基础,也照亮了中国现代设计事业的未来方向。关于尚美图案馆,夏燕靖、李华强、宋健等人已有研究,笔者在此基础上,从整体运作角度补充新史料,以拓展对这一重要设计机构的认识。

It researches on beginning and ending-time, the founding background and reasons for ending, main activities and historical significance of Shangmei Design Studio. Chen Zhifo founded Shangmei Design Studio in adversity that maintained only more than two years. Build on native soil of a combination of modern design discipline of practice, research and train, Shangmei Design Studio aggressive investigates the possible features of Chinese modern design discipline. Meanwhile, it embedded itself in the eastern poetic Shangmei-character, which point the way to the beginning of Chinese modern design..
