世界一流大学的社会贡献、经验及启示——以哈佛大学为例

世界一流大学是为人类文明进步和经济社会发展作出杰出贡献的大学。以哈佛大学为例,研究发现,世界一流大学贡献表征为:世界一流大学是国家乃至世界政治进步的助推器,是世界高等教育改革和发展的领头羊,是人类知识发现和科技创新的集大成者。世界一流大学贡献经验在于,定位高远,追求真理,服务人类福祉;与时俱进,改革创新,服务国家战略需求;尊重人才,任人为“能”,提升大学学术影响力;注重选拔,培养精英,发挥知名校友作用。借鉴国外世界一流大学的建设经验,有助于加快我国“双一流”建设,厘清贡献理念并付出实际贡献行动。

World-class universities are universities that have made outstanding contributions to the progress of human civilization and economic and social development.Taking Harvard University as an example,this study found that the contributions of world-class universities are as follows:World-class universities are boosters of national and international political progress,leaders in the reform and development of higher education in the world,and masters of human knowledge discovery and technological innovation.The contribution experiences of world-class universities lie in four aspects:University and society:positioning high,pursuing truth,and serving human well-being;University and government:advancing with the times,taking reform and innovation,and serving national strategic needs;University and teachers:respecting talents,appointing teachers on their merit,and enhancing the academic influence of the university;University and students:focusing on selection,cultivating elites,and giving play to the role of well-known alumni.Learning from the experiences of world-class universities construction in other countries,it is important to clarify the concept of contribution and pay practical contributions to accelerate the construction of“double first-class”universities in China.
