In Jintan village of Shaoyang city,the Weis has a good family tradition of diligence and attaching great importance to education and among the family members Wei Yuan and Wei Guangtao were the outstanding representatives.They inherited their family tradition,building academies,running schools for free and developing new models of schools.They made great contributuions to the development of education in China in modern times.Their practice of building schools exerted positive influence upon the later generations of the Weis.Wei Yuan and Wei Guangtao's concept of education was advanced.The education content they advocated was practical.Wei Yuan,Wei Guangtao and the later generations'practice of running shools is encouraged by the Weis'family tradition of valuing education and the tradition of setting up schools in Shaoyang are the foundation of the Wei Yuan,Wei Guangtao and the later generations of the family values and ideological resources for their practice of setting up schools.
