巴斯内特文化翻译观下的葛浩文英译本《酒国》

Goldblatt’s the Republic of Wine from the Perspective of Bassnett’s Culture Translation Theory

巴斯内特文化翻译观指出影响翻译全过程的因素有很多,除了文本语言外,还有译者、译入语文化、译语读者以及译本接受度等文本外因素。莫言《酒国》中大量乡土语言的翻译受到了各种文本外因素的影响,因此葛浩文相应采取了不同的翻译策略,如土味保留和土味不保留,这其中也有误译情况发生。研究表明,葛浩文的土味保留、土味不保留的翻译策略受到了"译语读者"和"译本接受度"两大文本外因素的影响;其误译大多属于中国历史人物和中国传统食物的混淆。

Susan Bassnett’s Cultural Translation Theory points out a number of factors influencing the whole process of translation, including translators, target language culture, target language readers and the sales market of translation besides the text language. The translation of the great number of folk languages in Mo Yan’s The Republic of Wine are attributed to the factors other than text, therefore, Howard Goldblatt adopts different relevant translation strategies, such as preserving the local flavor or not preserving the local flavor, in which mistranslations sometimes can be found. The research shows that Goldblatt ’s mistranslation is mostly a confusion of Chinese historical figures and traditional Chinese food. Additionally, his translation strategy of preserving the local flavor or not preserving the local flavor is greatly influenced by the two factors of "target readers" and "translation acceptability".
