A discussion on thermal insulation and drainage technology of Sichuan-Tibet railway tunnel in the high-altitude cold region is given in this paper. This paper summarizes the classification of cold region in China and the current status of thermal insulation and drainage technology of tunnels in cold region in China and overseas.Based on investigation of the freeing damage of the railway tunnel in high-latitude cold regions, the design method of dividing railway tunnel in the high-latitude cold region according to the mean temperature of the coldest month and the mean temperature of the year is analyzed.Combined with the characteristics of the Sichuan-Tibet railway project, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the design zoning and the standard of the insulation and drainage facilities of the tunnel in the cold area, and analyzes the applicable conditions of various insulation and drainage facilities. The results show that(1)tunnel in high-altitude cold region of Sichuan-Tibet railway can be divided into 3 design zones according to the annual average temperature and the coldest monthly average temperature;(2)The design of drainage trench for tunnel entrance section in the high-altitude cold area can adopt different insulation length and different structural forms combined with the characteristics of the work site according to the design partition;(3)The thermal insulation measures should be taken at inspection wells and the outlets of drainage system.
