Objective To explore the expression of runt-related transcription factor 2(Runx2)protein in lung adenocarcinoma and to investigate their relationship with aggressiveness and metastasis. Methods Clinical data and pathological specimens of 49 patients with lung adenocarcinoma(including lung adenocarcinoma tissues, paracancer tissues and normal lung tissues)were collected to detect the expressions of the Runx2 by immunohistochemical and Western blotting method. The correlation between the expressions of Runx2 protein and aggressiveness and metastasis were analyzed by SPSS software. Results The positive expression rates of Runx2 protein in lung adenocarcinoma, paracancer and normal lung tissues were 57.1%,8.2%and 0,respectively,with statistically significant differences(P<0.001).The high expression of Runx2 protein was closely related to invasive adenocarcinoma(26/34,76.47%),lymphnode metastasis(13/15,86.67%),poorly differentiated(14/14,100%),recurrence and metastasis during follow-up(8/8,100%),and the relationship was significant(P<0.001,P=0.006,P=0.006,P=0.007,respectively).Conclusions The high expression of Runx2 protein in lung adenocarcinoma tissues is closely related to the low differentiation, high invasion and metastasis characteristics and recurrence of the tumor.
