自20世纪中期同性恋作为美国民权运动的一部分开始后不久,同性婚姻的合法化进程也开始启动。到2015年,随着美国最高法院的支持性判决,该运动最终宣告结束。其中联邦国会、各州议会与各级法院展开了激烈的权力与权利的博弈,尤其是联邦最高法院发挥了关键作用。同性婚姻的合法化意味着个人主义的胜利,给美国的家庭结构、社会、文化教育、国家治理以及政治体制等方面提出诸多挑战与值得思考的问题。

Shortly after the 1950 s when gay rights became part of the Civil Rights movement in the U.S.,the legalization of the same sex marriage also began and in 2015 this process had come to a complete success when the U.S.Supreme Court reached its supportive conclusion.During this struggle,State and Federal jurisdictions have played a critical role.Their decisions to legalize the same-sex marriage have brought about many challenges to American family structure,culture,education,national governance and even to political system,which are worthy of serious considerations.
