《纽约时报》中国发声者转述语翻译研究——以钓鱼岛报道为例

A Study on Translation of Reported Chinese Speeches in New York Times--Focusing on Reports of Diaoyu Islands

把握西方媒体报道中国话语的特点规律对于提高中国在国际社会的话语权至关重要。本研究以钓鱼岛争端为个案,分析《纽约时报》报道中国官方、媒体、学者等发声者话语的策略方式。分析结果表明,西方媒体主要通过减译、改译、增译等手段对原始中文话语进行歪曲,以达到构建负面中国形象的传播目的。本研究有助于把握西方媒体争夺话语权的特点规律,也为改进我国对外宣传工作提供一个参考。

To understand the features and rules of how Chinese speeches are reported in the Western media is of great importance for China to strengthen its power of speech in international community.Taking the dispute over the Diaoyu Islands as a case,this research analyzes the ways how New York Times reports the speeches of Chinese officials and scholars through media.The results show that New York Times manipulates translation with three methods:omission,adaption and addition to achieve the purpose of creating a negative image of China.The research reveals the characteristics and ways of doing things among western media,and provides a reference for how to improve China’s external publicity.
