Frankly,l a st month’s column wa s a l i ttle depressing.Following China’s lead, the world’s great opera houses, theatres and concert halls began closing one by one as COVID-19 took its toll on public gatherings. And also following China’s lead, many of those same institutions had already started reaching out to their audiences by way of the internet.Things move pretty fast these days,so I figured that anything I wrote last month would probably ancient history by now. What I didn’t expect was that it would already be outdated by the time it appeared in print.
