From the analysis of Lao lai's connotation,semantic formation mechanism and syntactic structure,it is concluded that:The semantic origin of the category"Lao lai"is"the person who has been executed in breach of trust".The semantic connotation of the category"Lao lai"is not a simple superimposition meanings of"Lao"and"Lai"."Lao lai"has strong referential function.The process of its formation is dynamic and the semantic formation cannot be separated from metonymy.In the process of metonymy,the action gradually turns to be static,is transformed into the person involves,and the action becomes the subject."Lao lai"has few modificatory elements in syntactic structure,but it is widely used in"textbook-style".And on the basis of clear presupposition and intention,the decisive factor of the semantic and structural connection between"textbook"and"Lao lai"is the attitude and evaluation of the communicator and the"deviation"of the two expressions is the factor that produces the special pragmatic effect of"satire".
