On the Significance of Wang Wei’s Contact with Royal Clans and his Life Course

王维以诗名盛于开元天宝年间。他一生的交游对其诗歌形成和诗名远播有重要的影响。早年在长安干谒求宦,交结王族,进入以岐王为核心的王府文学群体中。这种交往在他生命历程中具有双重意义:从人生而言,助力他早年仕进,年少时即诗名远播;但也使他成为政治的牺牲品,体尝到贬谪失意之悲。从诗歌而言,王府文人群体的应制唱和,使他诗艺得到锤炼,而贬谪的经历使他渐渐疏离都城文化,山水田园开始进入他的诗歌世界。

Wang Wei was famous for his poems in the Kaiyuan and Tianbao Periods of the Tang Dynasty.His travels and social contacts in his lifetime had an important influence on the formation and wide spread of his poetry.In his early years in Chang’an,Wang Wei sought to contact with officials and royal clans,as a result,he entered the royal literary group with Qiwang as the core.This experience has dual significance in Wang Wei’s life:from the viewpoint of his life,this experience helped him to become an official in his early years and gained high reputation for his poems during his youth,but it also made him a victim of politics and tasted the sadness from relegation and frustration.In terms of poetry,Wang Wei’s poems were refined due to the fact that the royal literary group wrote the poems upon the emperor’s order,and the relegation made him isolated from the urban culture and the theme of landscape came into his poetic world as a main stream of his poetic creation.
