On October 8,2019,the Joint Research Centre(JRC)of the European Commission released the report Blockchain Now and Tomorrow——Assessing Multidimensional Impacts of Distributed Ledger Technologies.First,the report outlines how blockchain technology works in order to better understand its technical advantages and limitations.Secondly,based on the number,products and funds of blockchain start-ups in Europe and the world,the report discusses the upsurge of investment and entrepreneurship in this emerging technology,summarizes the main initiatives and activities at the policy level of the EU,and from the perspective of EU,shows the blockchain growth and potential.Finally,it analyzes the opportunities and challenges faced by the development and application of blockchain,as well as the major changes which may bring to the industry,economy and society.The main contents of this report are excerpted.
