论中医英语的学科定位、课程体系及教学方式

On the Discipline Orientation,Curriculum System and Teaching Methods of TCM English

当前中医英语专业面临的诸多困境均源于其学科定位与培养目标的错位。由于中医英语的形成与发展缺少由真正的社会需求所催生的内在动力,且中医英语是一种由翻译活动形成的人造语言,所以它不应被定性为一门新兴的ESP学科。中医英语的使命应简化为传播中医文化及中国传统文化,因而它应被定性为中医文化传播学。在新的学科定位基础上,中医英语应重新设定课程体系,致力于培养中医文化国际传播人才。尚处于学科幼稚期的中医英语课程应以研讨式教学为主,以此充分调动学生学习的主动性、合作性及创造性。

Many current difficulties faced by TCM English major stem from the dislocation of its discipline orientation and educational objectives.As the formation and development of TCM English lacks the intrinsic motivation generated by the real social needs,and TCM English is an artificial language produced by translation activities,it should not be defined as a new ESP discipline.The mission of TCM English should be simplified so as to focus on the dissemination of TCM culture and traditional Chinese culture.Hence it should be defined as the Study of TCM Culture Communication.Based on the new discipline orientation,the curriculum system of TCM English should be redesigned to cultivate talents for the international communication of TCM culture.The TCM English course,which is still in its infancy period,should focus on the seminar teaching mode,so as to fully mobilize students’initiative,cooperation and creativity in learning.
