现代汉诗中的"留白",指现代汉诗中由分行、行内空格、分节、文字的特殊排列等因素产生的外在体式上的无文字部分所创构的审美空间。在现代汉诗中,"留白"广泛存在,它是现代汉诗有别于古代汉诗的显著的外在特征。大体而言,现代汉诗中"留白"的出现及发展主要有诗学、哲学、心理学等方面的原因。"留白"的出现及发展深化了现代汉诗的诗美体验,彰显了现代汉诗的视觉美、听觉美、意蕴美,体现了现代汉诗诗体建设上有破有立,诗美追求上内涵与体式并重的两大发展趋向。

The "white space" in modern Chinese poetry refers to the aesthetic space composed of the wordless part in the external style, which is caused by reasons such as writing in line and chapter, leaving space in line, intended stanza, or arranging words in special forms. "White space" exists widely in modern Chinese poetry, which is a distinct external feature different from ancient Chinese poetry. Generally speaking, there are three major reasons for the appearance and development of "white space" in modern Chinese poetry: poetics, philosophy and psychology.
