Order and Chaos: A Further Study on the Theory of Transformation

自20世纪80年代末以来,社会转型理论及其相关研究在社会科学领域形成了广泛的影响力,同时也受到了种种质疑,包括对目的论的转型论所蕴含的确定性理论和线性社会观等的批评。这样一些学术挑战,要求社会转型研究者从更为广阔的视野,来重新审视转型论的一些基本概念和议题,在此基础上致力于超越既有理论和方法的局限性。并在确认社会变动的不确定性、非线性的同时,探索未来社会的确定性和方向性议题。这项研究认为,对社会秩序-社会混沌的辩证关系、以及社会转型的时空结构的认识和把握,应该被视为理论探讨和方法实践的有效途径。

Since the end of the 1980 s, the theory of social transformation and its related research have made a wide range of influence in the field of social sciences. At the same time, it has also been questioned, including the criticism onthe certainty theory and the linear social view contained in the teleological transformation theory. Such academic challenges require researchers in social transformation to re-examine the basic concepts and issues from a broader perspective, and on this basis, they are committed to transcending the limitations of the existing theories and methods. And while confirming the uncertainty and non-linearity of social changes, the researchers should go further to explore the issues of certainty and direction of the future society. This study holds that the understanding and grasp of the dialectical relationship between social order and social chaos, and of the space-time structure of social transformation, should be an effective approach to theoretical exploration and method practice.
