Contemporary Value of Dong Zhongshu’s Social Governance Thought

在董仲舒看来,“以类合之,天人一也”,社会治理的理论依据是天。天惠及民众,天子必须顺应天意。社会治理应当是善治,旨在维系公义,体察民情,满足民众的美好生活需要,使其拥戴天子与官吏。董仲舒坚信,统治者应当“固守其德,以附其民”,采取积极有效的措施,确保民众安居乐业,才能赢得民心。

In Dong Zhongshu’s view of“Heaven and man should be one in terms of the integration of categories”,the theoretical basis of social governance is heaven.Heaven benefits the people,and the emperor must follow the will of heaven.Social governance should be good governance,which aims to maintain justice,observe the people’s conditions,satisfy their need for good life,so that they are ready to support the emperor and officials.Dong Zhongshu firmly believes that the emperor should stick to their virtues and support their people,and take active and effective measures to ensure that the people live and work in peace and contentment to win people’s respect.
