汤婷婷在《女勇士》一书中通过"我"所讲述的家族故事以及生活在美国的华裔移民故事来表现华裔移民在美国的生存困境及他们的子女所经历的文化困境和身份困惑。她通过怀旧、疏离与和解等策略来寻觅故国的优秀传统文化,以此来为华裔移民在异质文化中构筑一道安全的壁垒,并试图为处于生存、文化和身份困境中的华裔移民提供一种走出困境的方案:肯定且坚守故国的优秀传统文化并与美国文化和解,以此为华裔美国人找到一定的生存、文化和话语空间。

Maxine Hong Kingston presents the living dilemma of Chinese immigrants in America, and the cultural dilemma and identity confusion of their offspring in The Woman Warrior through the family stories in China and the stories of Chinese immigrants living in America which "I" told. She seeks the excellent Chinese traditional culture to build an emotional barrier for Chinese immigrants in the heterogeneous culture by the strategies of nostalgia, alienation and reconciliation, and tries to offer Chinese immigrants who are in the plight of survival, culture, and identity a solution: affirm and stick to the excellent Chinese traditional culture and reconcile with the American culture, so as to find living, cultural and discourse space for Chinese Americans.
