Kuo Yi Zhi is a collection of stories of mystery and the supernatural in the late Northern Song Dynasty. This book tells a lot of bizarre anecdotes about the imperial family members and scholars or officials in the Northern Song Dynasty. The content involves things like magic, ghosts, and karma. Among them, many immortal Taoist figures were born from the literati’s feeling of worshiping Tao and their daily experience in the Song Dynasty. It is a typical example for studying the influence of Taoism on novel creation in the Song Dynasty.
