In Guanghe,a county in Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture in Gansu Province in northwest China,piles of silage-what local people call the bread for cattle and sheepare scattered in the fields.The silage is made by smashing and mixing corn and cornstalks that have been preserved through acidification and fermentation.
