Theoretical Interpretation of Xi Jinping’s Important Exposition on “A Historical Period of Convergence”

党的十九大报告中提出的"历史交汇期"概念,既十分重要,又不易把握。为了更好地理解这一概念和思想,需要全面考察习近平的全部相关论述。习近平在多种场合和不同含义上论述过"历史交汇"问题。其中包含不同文明的交汇,不同历史阶段的交汇,不同发展趋向的历史性交汇,以及人群利益和思想感情的交汇等。习近平对历史交汇的论述主要集中于三个问题:一是十九大报告中提出的"历史交汇期",它是两个百年奋斗目标的交接和过渡期;二是社会不同领域中发展趋向的历史性交汇,包括新科技革命与产业革命的交汇,科技革命、产业革命与经济发展的交汇,科技革命、产业革命与人类社会发展的交汇;三是在构建人类命运共同体过程中不同国家的文明、利益、梦想和发展道路的交汇等。习近平对各种历史交汇现象的预见、观察和强调,系着眼于我国经济社会发展,特别是着眼于新时代中国特色社会主义事业发展中历史机遇的把握。

"A Historical Period of Convergence" put forward in the report of the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China is a very important concept that is difficult to understand. To better understand this concept, we need to examine all relevant statements of Xi Jinping, as he has addressed the issue on various occasions and with different meanings. It involves the convergence of different civilizations, different historical stages, different development trends, and people’s interests and thoughts and feelings. Xi Jinping’s discussion on "A Historical Period of Convergence" mainly focuses on three aspects: Firstly, this period means the transition of the two centenary goals. Secondly, it refers to the convergence of development trends in different areas of society, including the new scientific and technological revolution converging with industrial revolution, and these two revolutions converging with economic development and the development of human society. Thirdly, the convergence of civilizations, interests, dreams and development paths of different countries in the process of building a community of shared future for mankind. Xi Jinping’s prediction and observation of and emphasis on the convergence of various historical phenomena focus on China’s economic and social development, especially the development of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
