王重民致邓衍林信札五通考释

A Textual Research on the Letters from WANG Chung-min to TENG Yen-lin

近年来,随着王重民研究深入,王重民致邓衍林的五通书信进入了学者们的研究视野。经过识读、排序和文本梳理,发现前四通主要内容为北京大学图书馆学系聘请邓衍林任职事,后一通为王重民代耿鉴庭求《辞源》一书事。文章以"聘约""开课""讲学""安居""求书"五个主题对这5封书信进行了考释。这五通书信揭示了北京大学图书馆学系早期对海外归国人才的延揽与聘用、课程设置、社会讲学、人物交游等相关史实,有助于深化北京大学图书馆学系机构史、中国图书馆学史研究。

Five letters written by WANG Chung-min to TENG Yen-lin have been uncovered in recent years.Four of them are mainly about the appointment of TENG Yen-lin by the Library Science Department of Peking University,and the fifth one is about the request of GENG Jianting for the dictionary Ci Yuan.In this paper,a textual,contextual and timing analysis was performed on the five letters which have been given the subject titles as Position Appointment,Class Presentation,Academic Lecture,Housing and Settlement,and Book Borrowing.Based on the correspondences between the two scholars,some historical details of recruitments of overseas talents,education curriculum,social service and interpersonal relationship of the Library Science Department of Peking University are revealed,which would be helpful to deepen the related research on the institutional history of Library Science Department of Peking University and the history of Chinese library science.
