In April, both the USD/CNH and USD/CNY spot rate appreciated slightly, and major RMB indexes against basket currencieseither rose or fell;both the USD/CNY and USD/CNH 1Y swap point edged up slightly;the trading volume of USD/CNHderivatives at the HKEx declined signi ficantly. The CNH money market liquidity maintained reasonably accommodative, withthe short-end interest rates rising and the long-end interest rates falling.
