摘要
“能主动学习”是新加坡核心的“理想教育成果”(Desired Outcomes of Education)之一。因此,如何达成自主性学习目标成为当下的研究热点。本文以“看录像说话”考试为例,开发网络口语自主学习模式,并收集真实语料,利用质化和量化的方式初步构建新加坡中学口语评论对话体流利准确度编程系统(FA-AfL Argumentative Oral Skills Self-assessment Coding System,FA-AOSSCS),并初步验证了该系统的信度和效度。
Preparing students to be self-directed learners is one of the desired outcomes of education in Singapore.When students were given opportunity to self-assess their learning gaps and self-evaluate their learning outcome,they could develop the competency to become self-directed learners.An exploratory study was conducted using the national assessment component“Oral with Video Stimulus”as the learning outcome to validate this online Fluency and Accuracy Assessment for Learning(FA-AfL)tool.In this study,225 students from fi ve secondary schools in Singapore were exposed to the FAAfL to self-assess their oral fl uency and accuracy and evaluate their oral competency.To test the validity and reliability of this tool,an Argumentative Oral Skills Self-assessment Coding System(FA-AOSSCS)was developed to code and analyze the students’audio recordings.Findings showed that the FA-AfL helped students make better judgement with oral fl uency and accuracy.At the same time,students showed self-directed learning traits as they leverage on the FA-AfL for oracy improvement.Additionally,when students self-evaluated via the self-directed learning procedures,they experienced lower stress level as compared to during the formal assessment environment.The positive impact on oral fluency and accuracy suggested the validity and reliability of this online self-assessment tool to nurture students’self-directed learning competency.
