The Chinese modern Poets’ Day, originated from the Dragon Boat Festival, has sprung up and finally gone downhill from 1940 to 1949, the process of which was shown obviously in the Chinese newspapers and periodicals in 1940 s. Poets’ Day was born with intellectuals and politicians’ expectations to bring about the regeneration in the new poetry realm and the encouragement among public and soldiers, and this original intention had attracted a great number of support and popularization from the publishers. However, this festival was always being celebrated monotonously only by Chinese scholars, which suggested to be a disadvantage during the competition with other Dragon Boat Festival’s activities, such as dragon boat racing and taking greetings to army. The disparity between the original intention and the real impact of the Poets’ Day also resulted in the intellectuals’ suspecting the rationality of this festival’s existence, which could be found in various newspapers and periodicals. Poets’ Day might boost the development of Anti-Japanese War Poetry in some way, but it didn’t win support among the people as a festival, so it faded out after the foundation of New China.
