Nowadays,China has paid more attentions to the environmental issues involved in all kinds of construction projects,so that the development of effective environmental management could be promoted to a certain extent.The main role of environmental impact assessment(EIA)in environmental management was emphasised and major problems existing in the current EIA practice for construction projects were analysed in terms of public awareness,effectiveness and reliability,expertise needs,and etc.Suggestions for enhancing the practical level of EIA exercise were accordingly put forward.
