Identification and Transformation of the Concepts of Metropolitan Area,Metropolis Area,and Urban Agglomeration

文章通过回顾国际上不同国家提出“都市区”“都市圈”“都市带”等概念的背景及目的,辨析这些概念的内涵,分析相关概念在中国化过程中的起伏变化及其原因,指出“城市群”概念在中国得到广泛认可是与“市带县”的城市制度相关的,而在核心大都市影响力不断增大、“大城市病”日益突出及空间形态不断连绵的背景下,传统空间尺度下的城市区域治理受到挑战,“都市圈”概念再度兴起,都市地区发展也将在产业逻辑、交通组织和治理模式等方面发生新的转变。

This article reviews the background and purpose of the concepts of metropolitan area,metropolis area,and megalopolis proposed by scholars from different countries.The analysis of the fluctuations of related concepts in their sinicization shows the widespread of the concept of urban agglomeration is related to the establishment of a new city management system in China.But the concept of metropolitan area is emerging again since the governance of urban region on traditional spatial scales has been challenged due to increasing influence of core metropolises,the"big city disease"and urban spatial integration.Meanwhile,the development of urban areas will also undergo new changes in industrial development logic,transportation organization,and governance models.
