摘要
喜龙仁在1936年出版的《中国画论》一书,是西方最早系统性介绍和论述中国古代画论的著作,反映了20世纪前期西方画论研究的最高水平,对后世西方中国画论的研究也影响至深。喜龙仁对于董其昌的画论不仅是翻译,更多地是试图解决董其昌画论中的核心问题,主要包括"南北宗论"、画家、画题和技法。虽然部分论述有着过度阐释和误读的问题,但整体而言,他的研究深入到了董其昌画论和艺术史之间的关联这一范畴。与此同时,喜龙仁还将董其昌画论中不同的观点进行比对,或结合同时代其他画论家的观点,与董其昌的论述进行比对。最后,喜龙仁的研究中有所缺失的,是对董其昌作品的分析,以及研究作品与画论的关联,但他的论述对当时的助手高居翰日后的相关研究造成了深远的影响。
The book Chinese Painting Theory written and published by Osvald Siren in 1936 s is the earliest systematic introduction and discussion of ancient Chinese panting theory in the West,which reflecting the highest level of Western painting theory research in the early 20^th century,also has profound influence on the research on the Chinese painting theory.Osvald Siren not only translated Dong Qichang’s painting theory,but also tried to solve the core problems in Dong Qichang’s painting theory,which mainly included"The Theory of North and South Schools of Painting",painters,painting themes,and techniques.Although some discussions have problems of"over-interpretation"and"misunderstanding",on the whole,his research has penetrated into the category of the relationship between Dong Qichang’s painting theory and art history.At the same time,Osvald Siren also compared different views of Dong Qichang’s painting theory;or combined with the views of other contemporary painting critics,compared with Dong Qichang’s dissertation.In the end,what is missing from Osvald Siren’s research is the analysis of Dong Qichang’s work and the connection between his work and painting theory.
