《黑暗的心》以英国殖民者同非洲土著的深刻矛盾为主线,描述了西方文明与非洲社会的冲突,从经济、政治、文化领域广泛地揭露了帝国主义的剥削本质。即便是出版已有一个多世纪,它依然令评论界深感兴趣。通过论述使读者认清,当时的欧洲殖民者披着"文明的外衣",到非洲等第三世界国家横征暴敛,在其殖民地进行残酷的殖民掠夺,进而讽刺和揭露西方文明背后的黑暗。因此,只有实现文化独立和经济繁荣,这个国家才能在国际大舞台上占取得更好的地位并且更好的维护本国的政治独立和完整。

The Heart of Darkness is based on the deep contradictions between British colonists and African indigenous peoples.This novel describes the conflict between western civilization and African society and exposes the exploitative nature of imperialism from the economic,political,and cultural fields.Even if it has been published for more than a century,critics is still interested in it.Through this research,this novel reflects the fact that the European colonists at the time were wearing"clothes of civilization"and went to the Third World countries,such as Africa,to arbitrarily conquer,cruel colonial plunder.Therefore,only by achieving cultural independence and economic prosperity can this country occupy a better position on the international arena and better maintain its political independence and integrity.
