摘要
《柏油娃娃》是托尼·莫里森描述美国黑人历史和生活风貌的第四部小说,小说以吉德与儿子的爱情为主线,深入探讨了美国社会中存在的种族之间以及文化之间的关系。通过对文本的细读与分析后,显然这部小说的主题主要集中于黑白种族、黑白文化二元的对立与统一,最终的目的是向人们揭示了二元对立的必然结果是走向统一,这才符合历史发展的趋势,也是小说的绝妙之处。《柏油娃娃》体现了作者对美国黑人的深切关怀及其高屋建瓴的理念。
As Tony Morrison’s fourth novel,Tar Baby presents a narration of black American’s history and living condition.Centered upon the love between Jadine and Son,Tar Baby deeply explores the relationships between two races and between two cultures in American society.Through a close reading and detailed analysis of the text,it could be easily found out that the main themes of the novel focus on the opposition and unity of race and culture between the white and the black,and the final aim of this novel is to display to people that the binary opposition will ultimately turns out to be the unity,which remains both the tendency of historical development and the brilliance of the novel.Tar Baby embodies the author’s farsighted ideas and deep concern for the black.
