The novel "Er quanshi"("Two Boxers") was conceived by Lao She in 1934, but was unfinished in the end. However, based upon an episode from the "Two Boxers" he published shortstory "Duan hun qiang"("Mortal Spear"). The writer modified the image of the main hero famous boxer Sha Zilong, whose refusal to share the secrets of wushu with other people manifested protest against modernization and defense of his dignity. The play "Spear, That Demolishes Five Tigers at Once"(1947), whose manuscript was discovered in the library of Columbia University in 1989, is one more reincarnation of the same plot. In this article we analyzed these three works and briefly described the main plot in order to understand the author’s creative process and purpose.
