Formation and Transformation of the Authorial Images of Chingiz Aitmatov During the Soviet Period in the English-Speaking Academia

追溯苏联时期艾特玛托夫创作在英语世界的学术接受情况,是在研究视域上对中国,乃至世界艾特玛托夫研究的重要补充。整体而言,英语世界的艾特玛托夫研究呈现出了较清晰的历史逻辑,即艾特玛托夫先后经历了"人道主义者"、"美学革新者"、"改革支持者"与"民族国际主义者"的形象建构与嬗变。该历程从一个侧面反映了艾特玛托夫的创作轨迹,亦彰显了西方学者特定的意识形态与价值立场。

It is a significant broadening of the scholastic perspective for Aitmatov studies not only in China but also around the world by gaining a retrospective view of the academic reception of Chingiz Aitmatov during the Soviet period in the English-speaking academia. Generally, there has not been a remarkably great amount of studies on Aitmatov as a Soviet writer in the English-speaking academia, yet a logically explicable developmental thread of those studies stands out in relief: scholars of the West have formed and transformed Aitmatov into multiple authorial images of, chronologically, "the humanist", "the aesthetic revolutionist", "the Reform supporter" and "the local internationalist". Such a receptive process, on the one hand, offers a particular reflection on the creative trajectory of Aitmatov, and on the other reveals the very ideological stance and value orientation of the Western scholar themselves when approaching a Soviet writer from a particular point of view.
