Among Agatha Christie's rick works,her novel Witness for the Prosecution was not well-known.However,it was adapted into the film of the same name by American director Billy Wilder in 1957 and released in 1958,which received good response and became a classic in film history.In the process of adaptation,through the comparison of plots,characters and themes,the different characteristics in the novel and film were explored.At the same time,the process of complementing and shaping the two were clarified,that is,the novel's inspiration to the film on the plot and theme and the complement of the film's image and metaphorical significance,awakened Agatha's spirit of being close to modernist literature.
