宁乡皮影戏是流传于湖南长沙地区的民间皮影戏剧种。其影偶在二维空间通过雕刻、拼装等方法塑造,由头茬、帽盔和身段构成,制作工序分下材、画底子、雕花、着色、钻孔连贯等8个步骤。参与宁乡皮影表演的,除了主角影型具有较为明显的特征之外,其戏台、戏班、戏本亦有各自的特点。宁乡皮影造型古朴,镂刻精细流畅,重视图案的装饰效果,保留了影偶角色的程式化设计,体现了影偶造型的完美化追求。
