Developments in L2 Reading Research in Recent 20 Years

摘要 本文以WOS核心数据库1998-2018年的723篇文献作为研究对象,借助CiteSpace知识图谱分析软件,系统梳理国际二语阅读近20年的研究进展。研究发现:国际二语阅读研究处于发展阶段,具有多学科交叉融合的特征,其知识群组主要包括技能成分、心理认知过程和神经机制、情感因素和社会情境、阅读策略与教学等。未来既要注重二语阅读的心理微观机制研究,又要加强其宏观理论模型构建,同时还需不断拓展作为输入来源的二语阅读、汉语作为第二语言或外语的阅读以及在线阅读等领域,改进和提升实证统计方法,融合和发展眼动、脑成像等实验技术。 The paper reviews 723 L2 reading-related literature from 1998 to 2018 retrieved from Web of Science Core Collection. Knowledge map analysis and CiteSpace were adopted in an attempt to identify the knowledge structure and further predict the emerging trends of research in the field. Findings reveal that the study of L2 reading is in the developing stage, and bears crossdisciplinary features. It is also found that the main knowledge clusters in the field include component skills of reading, cognitive processes and neural mechanisms of reading, the influence of individual emotional factors and social situations on reading, strategies and teaching of reading. In the future, academics should focus on the micro-psychological mechanism of L2 reading and the construction of its macro theoretical model. Meanwhile, it is necessary to expand the research field,such as L2 reading as a source of input, CSL or CFL reading, and online reading. It is also suggested that researchers should improve empirical methods and integrate experimental techniques such as eye movement and brain imaging.
